Harvey K. Littleton in Corning Museum exhibition
(11/15/05) The Corning Museum of Glass will present "Decades in Glass: The '60s" on the West Bridge of the museum beginning November 17, 2005 and continuing through April 2, 2006. Artists whose work is included in the exhibition are Andre Billeci, Edris Eckhardt, Erwin Eisch, Elsa Freund, Marvin Lipovsky, Harvey Littleton and Richard Marquis. Visit Littleton web page
Morgan and Burke-Morgan to be in "Couples" exhibition
(8/30/05) Two artists whose prints have been recently published by Littleton Studios will be included in an exhibition about artist couples in the fall of 2006 at Penn State University's Palmer Museum of Art. The work of Clarence Morgan and Arlene Burke-Morgan will be among that featured in "Couples Discourse." Twenty-four other couples will have work in the exhibition, including Eleanor and Dave Antin, Helen and Brice Marden, Gladys Nilsson and Jim Nutt and Sylvia Plimack Mangold and Robert Mangold. Claire Van Vliet at Littleton Studios
(8/23/05) Janus Press founder Claire Van Vliet is at Littleton Studios in Spruce Pine, North Carolina where she is working on three vitreograph prints. Van Vliet's interest in rock formations around the world has inspired her production at Littleton Studios in the past. She continues in that vein with imagery from the Capitol Reef National Park of Utah and the City of Rocks National Reserve in Idaho.
Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum to exhibit vitreographs
(8/18/05) Forty vitreograph prints from Littleton Studios will be on display this fall at the Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. "A Crystalline Place: Southeastern Artists at Littleton Studios" will open with a reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2005. Philabaum Glass Gallery features vitreographs
(7/28/05) A selection of vitreograph prints from Littleton Studios is currently on exhibition at Philabaum Glass Gallery. Sixteen artists are represented in the exhibition, including glass artists Dale Chihuly, Erwin Eisch. Richard Jolley and Tom Philabaum. The exhibition continues through September 17, 2005. Philabaum Glass Gallery is located at at 4280 North Campbell Avenue, Suite 105, Tucson, Arizona.
"The Littleton Studio Legacy" at Bascom-Louise Gallery
(7/15/05) The Bascom-Louise Gallery in Highlands, North Carolina is currently showing an exhibition of glass by Harvey K. Littleton and vitreographs by various artists published at Littleton Studios. The exhibition continues through July 25.
Peter Loewer vitreographs in arboretum exhibition
(7/05/2005) An exhibition of works by Ashville artist Peter Loewer will be on display at the North Carolina Arboretum through October 4, 2005. A selection of vitreograph prints produced by Mr. Loewer in collaboration with Littleton Studios is included in the exhibition. A reception will be held at the Arboretum on Sunday, July 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information call the arboretum at 828/665-2492.
Harvey K. Littleton collection featured at Mint Museum
(6/03/05) The Mint Museum of Art is currently featuring the work of three artist-collectors in its exhibition "Point of View II: North Carolina Artists as Collectors." The works of Harvey K. Littleton, Mark Hewitt and Randy Shull are on exhibit alongside artworks by others that they have collected. The exhibition demonstrates how artist collectors are motivated to collect through personal relationships with their peers. Curated by Melissa G. Post, Curator of Craft and Design at the Mint Museum, the exhibition will be on view through October 9, 2005.
The Littleton Collection gallery reopens
(6/03/05) Under reconstruction after the devastating hurricanes of 2004, The Littleton Collection gallery is again open to the public and has resumed its normal hours of 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. James L. Tanner featured at Littleton Collection
(1/18/05) Prints by James L.
Tanner will be featured at The Littleton Collection in February. A
ceramic sculptor, his long list of awards includes two
National Endowment for the Arts grants and a McKnight Foundation Fellowship. Collections
that hold his work include the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York; Mint
Museum of Craft + Design, Charlotte, North Carolina; Renwick
Gallery of the National Museum of American Art, Washington, DC and
the Museum of Arts and Design (formerly the American Craft Museum) in New York
City.
Clarence Morgan exhibits at Carthage College
(1/18/05) Four vitreograph prints by Clarence Morgan will be featured in "Chop Mark II," an exhibition of contemporary printmaking at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The exhibition, which will run from February 24 through April 9, 2005, will be held in the H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art at 2001 Alford Park Drive.

Littleton Collection features Judith O'Rourke
(12/31/04) Judith O'Rourke is The
Littleton Collection's featured artist for January 2005. Ms. O'Rourke is
the master printer at Littleton Studios, a position she has held for seventeen
years. She is a fine artist in her own right with one hundred exhibitions,
including eleven solo shows, to her credit. O'Rourke's work is included in the
collections of the University of Texas, Austin; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; Old
Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, Yale University and The Library of
Congress, among others.

The Littleton Collection survives Hurricanes Frances, Jeanne
(10/06/04) After experiencing two devastating hurricanes in Fort Pierce, Florida, The Littleton Collection is up and running. Damage to the gallery's building at 3690 North U.S. 1 was severe, but the artworks within emerged in the main unscathed and are now safe in storage. The gallery's customers can expect the same prompt service that they have always enjoyed through this website while the building is under repair. The Littleton Collection plans to reopen its gallery doors sometime in December. Please watch this page for news of its progress.
Thomas Philabaum visits Littleton Studios
(8/28/04) Thomas Philabaum, the glass artist known for the scavo (antiqued or, literally, "unearthed") surfaces on his glass vessels is currently trying his hand at the graphic arts at Littleton Studios. Philabaum is working with master printer Judith O'Rourke in vitreography, a printmaking technique developed by Harvey Littleton. Vitreographs are prints pulled from glass matrices onto which imagery has been etched, engraved or otherwise processed to accept printer's ink and transfer it to paper.
Ellen Fischer proofs prints at Littleton Studios
(8/20/04) Painter and printmaker Ellen Fischer recently completed a one week residency at Littleton Studios where she produced two bon a tirer prints in collaboration with master printer Judith O'Rourke. The printing of the edition will take place sometime in the fall.
Littleton Studios exhibition at Marie-Terrel Gallery
(8/05/04) Marie Terrel Gallery in Asheville, North Carolina will feature an exhibition of prints published by Littleton Studios in its ongoing "Curator's Choice" series. The exhibition opens on Friday, August 6 with a reception from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and runs through September 30, 2004. Artists whose prints will be seen in the exhibition are Thomas Buechner, Dale Chihuly, Warrington Colescott, Erwin and Gretel Eisch, Sergei Isupov, Herb Jackson, Kenneth Kerslake, Harvey K. Littleton, Peter Loewer, Judith O'Rourke, Miklos Pogany, Italo Scanga, Hollis Sigler and Claire Van Vliet.
Littleton sculptures to be featured in new book
(8/05/04) Images of two of Harvey K. Littleton's sculptures will be included in the upcoming book Sculptural Glass in America by Martha Drexler Lynn. The book, which will be published by the University of Seattle Press and Marquand Books of Seattle, Washington, will feature an essay and color illustrations of contemporary glass sculpture from twenty-five museums collections. Littleton's cased glass "Blue Crown" of 1988 (Indianapolis Museum of Art collection) and "Do Not Spindle," a kiln-worked plate glass and brass sculpture of 1975 (Milwaukee Art Museum collection) will be included in the book.
Digital Atelier releases new book
(7/8/04) The Digital Atelier - Karin Schminke, Dorothy Simpson Krause and Bonny Pierce Lhotka - recently announced the release of their new book, Digital Art Studio: Techniques for Combining Inkjet Printing with Traditional Art Materials. Published by Watson Guptill, the 160 page manual covers innovative techniques that integrate inkjet printing with traditional art-making processes. In 1998 Schminke, Krause and Lhotka were visiting artists at Littleton Studios, where they combined digital imagery with glass plate intaglio and siligraphy processes to create evocative print series.
Vitreographs by Jicha, Zive on exhibition in Washington, DC
(6/24/04) Vitreograph prints by Jon Jicha of Cullowhee, North Carolina and Theresa Zive of Miami, Florida will be on exhibition from July 24 through August 28, 2004 at the Kathleen Ewing Gallery in Washington, DC. The prints will be part of the galley's annual "Dog Days Dog Show" featuring paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and photography devoted to Man's Best Friend. Jicha will be represented in the show by three prints; Zive by one. A part of the proceeds from sales of the artworks will be donated to Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL) to benefit WARL's free spay/neuter program. Isupov Brothers to visit Littleton Studios
(6/18/04) Ceramic sculptor Sergei Isupov and his brother, the painter Ilya Isupov, will be artists in residence at Littleton Studios in late June and early July. The residency is Sergei Isupov's third visit to Spruce Pine and Ilya's first. Littleton Studios published five print editions by Sergei Isupov in 2000 and six editions in 2003.

(5/27/04) Vitreograph prints from Littleton Studios are now available in Ashville, North Carolina at the Marie Terrel Gallery. The gallery carries a varied selection of prints by Dale Chihuly, Erwin Eisch, Sergei Isupov, Harvey Littleton and others.
Clarence Morgan at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
(5/20/04) Clarence Morgan, a painter who recently published several editions with Littleton Studios, is having a solo exhibition of his work at the Steinhardt Conservatory Gallery of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Titled "Clarence Morgan: Momentum and Stasis," the exhibition is comprised of thirty-two paintings inspired by botanical forms. The exhibition will be on view June 12 to August 8, 2000. Isupov print featured in New York show
(5/6/04) The Sergei Isupov print "Stuck in the Middle with You" published by Littleton Studios has been included in a prestigious exhibition of new prints at the International Print Center New York (IPCNY) "New Prints 2004/Spring" was curated by Barry Walker, Curator of 20th Century Art and Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. The exhibition of forty-six new works was selected from a field of 1,000 entries submitted by fine art presses and individual artists from around the world. The exhibition is on view from May 6 through June 12, 2004 at IPCNY at 526 West 26th Street, Room 824 in New York City.
Bennett Galleries to present vitreograph show
(5/06/04) Bennett Galleries in Knoxville, Tennessee will present an exhibition of prints published by Littleton Studios. "It's Women's Work! Women at Littleton Studios" will open June 10 and continue through July 3, 2004. The exhibition will feature works by Louisa Chase, Karen Kunc, Carol Wax, Claire Van Vliet and others. The gallery is located at 5305 Kingston Pike in Knoxville.
Harvey K. Littleton featured in Fort Pierce Tribune
(4/29/04 Harvey K. Littleton was featured "above the fold" today on the front page of the Fort Pierce (Florida) Tribune. The article by Tyler Treadway, staff writer for the Tribune, outlined Mr. Littleton's career in glass and traced his ties to the city of Fort Pierce, Florida. Mr. Littleton's grandfather, Dr. J. T. Littleton, moved to Fort Pierce in 1916. His son, Dr. J. T. Littleton Jr., moved to Fort Pierce after a career as Director of Development at Corning Glass Company in Corning, New York. Harvey K. Littleton was born and raised in Corning.
Harvey K. Littleton's first visit to Fort Pierce was as a child of three in 1925. He returned to Florida in subsequent years to indulge his passion for sailing and attend art and antique auctions in Miami. For the past several years Mr. Littleton has been a winter resident of Fort Pierce. He established The Littleton Collection gallery there in 2001.
Harvey K. Littleton receives Lifetime Achievement Award
(4/18/04) Harvey K. Littleton is among nine people to be honored this year with a Wisconsin Visual Art Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards honor Wisconsin artists, art patrons, authors and educators for their contributions to the visual arts in Wisconsin. Recipients of the award include living and historically important figures. The awards will be announced at a reception at the West Bend Art Museum on May 2, 2004 where William Gerdts, author of the Art Across America series of books, will be the guest speaker.
Harvey K. Littleton to receive Honorary Degree
(4/17/04) Harvey K. Littleton will receive an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The commencement ceremony will take place on May 15, 2004.
