GRETEL EISCH b. 1934 Munich, Germany; resides in Frauenau, Germany
Gretel Eisch studied sculpture in Munich where, in 1960/61 she was a founded the artists' group RADAMA with Erwin Eisch and Max Strack. RADAMA was notable for publishing a fictitious biography of an imaginary abstract expressionist artist and holding an exhibition of the "prematurely deceased" artist's work in 1961. "In Memory of Bolus Krim" was shown at the Malura Gallery in Munich. Critics at first pronounced Bolus Krim a genius, but after the hoax was revealed a scandal erupted in which RADAMA was threatened with lawsuits.
Over the years Gretel Eisch has worked in ceramics, stone, wood, glass and bronze. In the late 1980s she led the glass painting workshop at the Eisch Glass factory in Frauenau. She is an instructor in printmaking and sculpture at the Eisch's summer art school, Bild-Werk Frauenau. Her work has been collected by museums in Europe. In the United States her work is in the collection of Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
